When did you start Djing?
I started messing around with two old fashioned record players (not decks) when I was 16 many, many years ago. Unfortunately not improved much since then.
What is it about thing the makes it interesting for you?
It is the buzz ofmaking people dance or dropping something unexpected and seeing how the crowd reacts and of course the pleasure of digging and sourcing new tunes.
What makes you decide to play a certain record during one of your sets?
Impuse, the urge to play a certain tune out and drunk folk talking your ear off to hear their favourite tune.
What’s your opinion on the importance of roots, traditions, respecting traditions and sources?
As Bob Marley said ‘if you don’t know your past you don’t know your future’ but I am not precious. Would love to have all the originals but I’m never going to pay 100s for tune especially if there is nice shinny, well cut, re-press avaiable for £5. Also I think sometimes we need a forget about the past to try create something new. There is a lot of pleasure to be find tracing sounds and samples from heavily ‘borrowed’ tunes back to orginal source.
